Sometimes our customers need service on the weekend or after work when our office is closed. Unfortunately, most apartment communities perform ONLY EMERGENCY maintenance service after business hours and weekends. Kings Gate West is different.
ANYTIME SERVICE. We are one of the only apartment communities in the nation to offer both emergency and non-emergency service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
SAME-DAY SERVICE. In most cases, when our customers call for service they should experience same-day service. There are times that a delay in service could result if a contractor needs to be scheduled, parts or equipment needs to be ordered, snow emergency, or other factors. We perform thousands of service requests annually, and there are times that a service request may get delayed. When you call the maintenance service number (315.487.3300) your service request goes directly to our maintenance staff 24/7/365. Just follow the prompts to leave your service request with our maintenance answering service.
DEDICATED TEAM MEMBER. During maintenance business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), Kings Gate West has a maintenance technician whose primary task is performing service requests. In many cases, our customers will receive a response to a service request in a few hours, sometimes in 30 minutes or less.
Foursquare is a smartphone social networking app for check-ins at businesses, restaurants, shopping and other venues. When a smartphone user checks into a venue, there is an opportunity to earn special deals at the venue. The person with the most venue check-ins in a 60 day period becomes the "Mayor" of the venue. There is also a game-like feature where mobile phone users can earn "badges" for certain check-in accomplishments. Bring your laptop or smartphone to the pool. We are offering FREE WI-FI access to the internet at the pool, courtesy of Verizon, for the exclusive use of @KingsGateWest residents. We provide limited parental filtering. REMEMBER: Always be respectful and use safe computing practices when accessing the internet.
The pool closes due to inclement weather, such as rain, thunder, lightning, cold temperatures (under 72 degrees at pool). Depending on the weather conditions, the pool could reopen when the weather improves, although rain could affect the pool chemistry and delay its reopening.

Who could forget the 18-24" of snow from the snow storm that ended March 7, 2011? Or, the 7 feet of snow we received in the first two weeks of December, 2010? It's nice to know that there are several features of Kings Gate West that make life a little easier.
1. No need to go outside to take your trash with valet trash service. We pick up trash on Mondays and Fridays from inside each apartment building's trash area (or, next to the outside stairs for townhomes). On the other hand, apartment communities everywhere require that their residents transport their trash to outside dumpsters. It can't be fun driving your trash in your car, particularly if you don't like transporting the smell of trash, and especially when its raining or snowing.
2. No need to go outside to get your mail. The USPS delivers mail inside each apartment building and next to entrance door of townhomes. More and more apartment properties and homes are receiving mail in outdoor massed gang mailboxes.
3. No need to go outside to do your laundry. Each apartment building has its own laundry room with five apartments for each set of washer/dryer front-load equipment, twice as much equipment as is more commonly available in apartment properties (1 set for every 10 apartments). Most apartment properties have common laundry buildings, requiring that you transport your laundry outdoors to those buildings. In addition, our townhomes have washer/dryer hookups and washer/dryer rentals available.
We recently installed new high-efficiency Speed Queen laundry equipment that offers exciting technological advances for laundry service.
Kings Gate West has partnered with one of the biggest laundry equipment companies in the U.S., Coinmach, with one of the largest installations in the nation for an apartment community of its high tech equipment that offers the convenience of major credit card access at each washer and dryer (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, regular and pre-paid with no service fee on your credit card for these kind of "micropayments").
The state-of-the-art, front-load laundry equipment offers internet, on-line access for our customers to see which washers and dryers are available, without leaving the comfort of their apartment home. Our customers are also able to receive text messages on their phone or email that will notify them when their washer or dryer has completed its cycle.
The new washers' high spin speed operate at over 1000 RPMs, so that clothes are less wet before going into dryers. In addition, the washers operate far more efficiently, requiring only two tablespoons of detergent and use almost 50% less water than older equipment. The dryers have the largest door opening in the industry.
Another aspect of this technologically advanced equipment is that the machines have built-in, self-diagnostic capabilities, so that Coinmach is able to receive advanced notice over the internet for repair purposes. And, if our customers report a need for service using the on-line capability, they can receive an email letting them know when repairs have been completed.
Even though our customers have access to equipment and technology that few apartment communities have available, our pricing is similar to rates of other area apartment communities: $1.50 for washer and dryer regular loads.

With prior approval, we allow for indoor cats and many breeds of dogs. There is a $300 deposit per pet, a $25/month pet fee, along with a separate month-to-month pet lease.
We do a dog interview with the dog and owner at the time of the lease application, and again at the time of the lease renewal. The dog owner also completes a canine questionnaire which can be downloaded here: CANINE QUESTIONNAIRE. We require documentation of rabies vaccination. The dog needs to be licensed in the Town of Camillus within 30 days of moving in. We also take a photograph of the dog.
Some breeds that we do not accept are: akita, auatolian shepherd, black russian terrier, bouvier desflandres, boxer, bulldog (all types including english and french bulldogs), chow chow, coonhound, dingo, doberman pincher (and mini-pincher), fox terrier (smooth hair and wiredharied fox terriers), german shepherd, great dane, huskie, malamute, kuvasz, mastiff (e.g., neapolitan, french, old english, bull mastiff), newfoundland, pit bull, plot hound, rhodesian ridgeback, rottweiler, samoyed, shar-pei, st. bernard. In addition, we do not accept dogs where the breed is undocumented and unknown, or mixed breed dogs with any of the unacceptable breed types. Since there has been a huge increase in the variety of dog breeds, please check for breed acceptability in advance.
There are DOGIPOT Valet Dispensers stationed throughout the property for the convenience of our dog owners. These dispensers provide unique biodegradeable litter pickup bags that are made with recycled content.

'There is a good reason for using ['High Efficiency'] HE detergent that is specially formulated for these newer front-load washers. HE laundry detergents are concentrated laundry detergents that are low-sudsing especially for use with low water high-efficiency washers.
If regular detergents were to be used in front-loading and high-efficiency washers, the presence of too many suds could 'confuse' washing cycles, cause delays and make proper rinsing of clothes difficult. Only HE detergents should be used in HE washers.
Similar to why dish detergent does not work well in a dishwasher which requires specially formulated non-sudsing dishwasher detergent, performance can be severely affected by the use of improper detergents in HE detergent low water washing machines."

These strange designs are "QR Codes" (QR stands for "Quick Response"). They are meant to be scanned by a smartphone mobile phone user to take them directly to a website, without having to open up a mobile phone brower window and typing in a website address. They can save a mobile phone user a lot of time.
Android smartphones have built-in QR code scan ability. Other smartphones, like the iPhone, require a QR code app for scanning. Go to your smartphone's Apps store to download your phones QR code app. Your mobile phone will then be able to scan QR codes that will take you directly to the website.

OCRRA's Household Battery Collection is looking a little different. Instead of mixing all battery types together, they must be separated for proper disposal, due to new federal regulations.
Sounds complicated, right? Not if you follow these simple rules. Separate your used batteries into 3 categories:
1. Alkalines (the ones you use in most gadgets) 2. Button Batteries (watch and hearing aid batteries) 3. Rechargeables (batteries from cordless power tools, cellular and cordless phones, laptop computers, digital cameras, camcorders, etc.)
Then, bring them to any Onondaga County Wegmans store. You will see a new bin (like the one pictured here), with 3 compartments for batteries. Place them in the corresponding slot. Alkaline and Button Batteries must be placed in loose; Rechargeables must be individually bagged (bags provided).
Our three bedroom townhome is the size of a home, from about 1,800 - 2,200 sq.ft.! It features high tech, energy-efficient, vinyl tilt-out dual-pane windows filled with argon gas and coated with a low-emissity coating. The massive kitchen and family room has a pantry closet for extra storage and eat-in area that can accommodate a large family kitchen table, and a rear door that leads to a patio area. When you want to entertain guests, the formal dining area will make everyone comfortable. The first floor bathroom will also be convenient for your guests. The stairway going downstairs leads to the garage and laundry/storage room.
Our large townhome has generously-sized bedrooms with genuine hardwood floors, and are loaded with closet space! The huge master suite is simply outstanding, with its own bathroom and a walk-in shower. Both upstairs bathrooms feature ceramic floors and walls.
Our two bedroom apartment is the size of a small home, about 1,100 sq.ft. (some even come with a bonus room)! It features high tech, energy-efficient, vinyl tilt-out dual-pane windows filled with argon gas and coated with a low-emissity coating. The kitchen has a pantry closet for extra storage and eat-in area that can accommodate a kitchen table. When you want to entertain guests, the formal dining area will make everyone comfortable. The spacious 2nd bedroom has more than ample closet space. Besides the main bathroom being ideally accessible for guests, the master bedroom suite is simply outstanding - loaded with closet space, a dressing area with a four-foot cultured marble top vanity cabinet, its own bathroom with shower and another bath vanity cabinet. Wow, mornings will become less congested!
